Packaging
Aurora Material Solutions offers a polypropylene based, zero halogen, flame-retardant extrusion grade compound for packaging applications. In addition, our product line also includes rigid PVC compounds.
These include:
- AuroraGuard™ compounds feature robust antistatic capabilities and are engineered primarily for packaging in industrial and consumer electronics sectors. These materials comply with RoHS and REACH standards and can carry UL 94 V-0 flame ratings. They offer low moisture absorption and strong chemical resistance. With an antistatic rating of 10×10¹¹ ohms, AuroraGuard can be scored and folded into three-dimensional packaging, allowing users to die-cut, store, and ship packages flat for convenient on-site assembly. The product line includes hundreds of color choices and is available in both molding and extrusion grades.
- AuroraGuard TPOs (thermoplastic polyolefins) are engineered as multiphase materials, featuring one phase that remains rigid at room temperature but becomes fluid when heated, and another phase composed of an elastomer that is soft and rubber-like at room temperature. The AuroraGuard product line from Aurora Material Solutions includes both halogenated and non-halogenated TPO-based compounds, providing versatile options to meet diverse application requirements.
- AuroraFlex™ flexible PVC serves as a cost-effective alternative to thermoplastic elastomers, offering a range of flexibility from 35A to 95A Shore A durometer and extending to semi-rigid grades with specific gravities between 1.15 and 1.65. A variety of additives are incorporated to enhance plasticity and flexibility, addressing needs such as renewable non-phthalate content, improved low-temperature performance, and biocidal properties. For applications requiring high abrasion resistance and superior processing characteristics, AuroraFlex SL is engineered to deliver long-lasting materials that resist tearing.
- AuroraTec™ PC/PBT (polycarbonate/polybutylene terephthalate) compounds are made from alloys of amorphous polycarbonate and the semi-crystalline polybutylene terephthalate resin. They offer excellent chemical resistance, making AuroraTec PC/PBT ideal for electrical connectors located in harsh environments and outdoor connector boxes. Impact-modified AuroraTec PC/PBT grades can provide a high level of impact strength at low temperatures. There are also flame-retardant grades (both non-halogenated and brominated), glass filled grades, and UV stabilized grades.
- AuroraTec exterior weatherable rigid PVC compounds are offered in both powder and pellet forms, with a variety of color options to accommodate different application needs. The interior rigid PVC compounds in the AuroraTec™ line are highly versatile and can function as stand-alone materials or as structural substrates paired with capstock in two-part systems, especially for applications demanding enhanced weatherability. Regardless of use, these compounds deliver a broad processing window and strong impact resistance. AuroraTec RPVC is available in clear or opaque versions; opaque PVC incorporates fillers and pigments to eliminate transparency and achieve specific colors, while clear rigid PVC contains no such additives.
